Pacho, a Wayúu descent was our 4X4 driver and we had a hard time trusting him. Why? The 1st day after watching the sunset at the desert, he started the SUV with a suspicious clicking sound. What I like about cities is that everything is king size, the beauty and the ugliness. These Banyans trees are found everywhere in Hong Kong, growing in parks, street planters and even between the cracks of stone walls. Their imposing presence defines de cityscape. . The massive influx of refugees postwar led to a severe housing shortage in Hong Kong. As a result, the government launched a public accommodation program for low-income residents. The “Monster Building”, (named by locals) along with other housing properties became densely populated creating a concrete beehive. I visited the Ace’s bar, actually twice during my trip. The 1st time, I sat by the bar, asked for a Yebisu beer and for the story behind a Colorado’s plate that was casually hanging by the liquor bottles. The owner/bartender, Tsuyoshi smiled.
