Salkantay Day 5 | Salkantay dia 5 – Machupicchu!

|ENG| I don’t even know how to explain the feeling of seeing Machu Picchu. It wasn’t only the 5 days walking journey that took me there that made it so special, almost unreal; but the sense of joy, peace and purpose. Salkantay Day 4 | Salkantay dia 4

|ENG| Our slightly uphill morning trek leads us to the archeological site of Llactapata (2650m/8694ft), You can see Machu Picchu from the distance! Woohoo! After taking in this beautiful view, our route will continue down to the hydroelectric station (1950m/6398ft) where we continued to walk with the group to Aguas Calientes (2050m/6726ft). During this trek we met a lot of people since is a more friendly path. Including “Pepe” a dog that adopted us during the trek. He waited for us whenever we stopped and walked always by our side. …

Salkantay Day 3 | Salkantay dia 3

|ENG| We woke up at 5:30 am again with a coca tea to start a completely different trek. We continued to descend to a dense forest where there is a gorgeous flora and sprawling plantations. It looked so much easier than day 2 until I had this encounter with a Natural Bridge! This particular one connects the mountain so that you can cross over a 200 mts down – gorgeous cascade! (challenge # 2000 for me if u must know lol) Because the bridge is so unstable, only 1 person …
