Colombian Paradise | Paraiso Colombiano

If you find yourself in a 2hr roadtrip that includes: sea, snow, desert, mountain and jungle – You are in Colombia! I mean, me! I am in Paradise!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀The trip through the “Caribe” expressway by motorcycle was one of my best experiences. I was marked for life (literally, I got a stunning sunburn – in patches- in my back & rest of the body lol), but back to the story. In about an hour, I left the desert and found myself facing a snowy mountain! Right in the limit of …

It was Pacho’s Fault. | Fue culpa de Pacho.

Pacho, a Wayúu descent was our 4X4 driver and we had a hard time trusting him. Why? The 1st day after watching the sunset at the desert, he started the SUV with a suspicious clicking sound. Yep, Pachito forgot to put gas. Thing is, this region doesn’t have gas stations. People sell it in 2-liter bottles at the side of the road, road that we had left behind 2hrs before entering Cabo.  Pacho tried to tow the SUV with another, but that only left us with no bumper as it FELL …

I’m Soy into Hong Kong. | Soya Hong Kong.

What I like about cities is that everything is king size, the beauty and the ugliness. These Banyans trees are found everywhere in Hong Kong, growing in parks, street planters and even between the cracks of stone walls. Their imposing presence defines de cityscape. . Its quite magical, seeds carried by the wind or dropped by birds find their way into cracks. As the tree grows, its roots plunge dozens of meters into the soil behind the wall!Respect for bayans runs deep in south Chinese culture. They are considered to …

Golden Gai, Shinjuku

I visited the Ace’s bar, actually twice during my trip. The 1st time, I sat by the bar, asked for a Yebisu beer and for the story behind a Colorado’s plate that was casually hanging by the liquor bottles. The owner/bartender, Tsuyoshi smiled. He then told me that he opened this place after returning from a four-year stint in Colorado. He thought if he’d moved back to Japan, he’d have to take a piece of CO with him. So, he opened his bar in the Golden Gai area and hanged …

Hiroshima Now | Hiroshima Ahora

Time, the impact it has on our memories, our priorities, and our sense of responsibility for crimes and injustice, is something I’ve been thinking about a lot. This was the only structure left standing where the first atomic bomb exploded on August 6th, 1945. The United States air dropped it on the Japanese city of Hiroshima and it killed about 146,000 people. We are talking about people old enough to be our grandparents, it wasn’t THAT long ago and we still feel unconnected. Why? 🤷🏼‍♀️So often, we’re asked to remember …
